Excellent comparison by BMW Blog. Loved this picture. Shows how big portly the i3 actually is.

God that thing looks ugly. Next to a fairly bland car and it looks even uglier.

I can't wait to see what the new Volt will look like (as well as its under the skin improvements).
I appreciate the i3 for what it is. It's amazing to offer a car in that price range with a CFRP body. But it's just god awfully ugly.

Remember the Prius. One of the main selling points everyone said it had was you always knew it was a hybrid and you were saving the world because it looked so ugly different.

portly... portly is the word you're looking for.

There are design cues about it that I like, but some things like the rear door low window lines and the Persian Cat face don't work for me.
The interior on the other hand... I like it a lot. And TBH, if I had the money I'd buy one easily for my daily commute.

Neat I've only seen the i3 in grey. It looks weird in red.

Thank you

I also think the rear hatch design looks a bit funky as well. I generally dislike the car, not cause it is electric but because I hate it. . .

I guess I can't argue with that, it is undeniable different. . .

Just imagine the i3 lady raging against a pickup driver videos on the way.

I hope the i3 will attract a different kind of public.
The Prius is generally for people who like to brag about it. The i3 is too expensive for this.

Please, the Tesla model S costs more and look at their customers. Just like there were perfectly normal Prius owners who just want to save fuel the same goes for Model S owners but also like Prius owners there are holier than though smug Model S owners who are prepared to tell every way there Model S is better than whatever you're driving no matter how much an electric car doesn't fit your lifestyle.

I blitzed through the article so I'm probably wrong, but it sounds like range performance wise the i3 is better if you're going to stay in a city, and the Volt is better if you plan on taking it some distance at highway speed.
I like the look of the i3, it's just futuristic enough to overcome the awkwardness. The Volt looks pretty dated by now, but it's a few years old so it's not really surprising. I'm very curious to see the next gen, and if Chevy really does make an electric Sonic (the rumors are out there and Chevy trademarked the Chevy Bolt).
I can seriously see myself leasing one of these electric runabouts in the future. In fact, knowing what I know now I'd have leased a Volt instead of buying a Sonic (or the Kia I had before the Sonic) and bought a C5 Corvette to go with it. Commuting in the Volt would be great and lease deals are pretty darn good on them. I've driven the Volt, it's far from exciting but damn if it isn't a good car to putt around in.

Looks a lot better in orange.
